What did you learn today?

Sometimes Biscuit learns things, but we don't know about it right away. Then at some random time, we'll be having a conversation with him, and he'll blurt out some facts we've never heard him say before.

Then sometimes, you get a direct report as soon as he gets in the car at day care. Today was one of those days.

Here's his stream of consciousness commentary on our trip from day care to our house:

Biscuit: Mom, where are we going?

Me: Home.

Biscuit: We're going home where we'll have dinner?

Me: Yes.

Biscuit: Mom, how can we have dinner if it's still daytime? You have breakfast in the morning, lunch at daytime and dinner at nighttime.

Me: Well, since the time change, we eat dinner during the daytime, too.

Biscuit: Mom, the sun shines in the morning when you eat breakfast. And it shines during the day when you eat lunch. And it shines at dinnertime, too?

Me: Yes.

Biscuit: Oh. Okay. When it's daytime, the sun shines, and when it's nighttime, the stars come out. And the stars are in the sky with the planets. We live on the planet Earth, Mom. And Mercury is a planet, too. And it has hot stuff inside, so it's very, very hot. And Phoenix (which is an Asian restaurant we like here in town, but Biscuit actually meant Venus) is brrrrr. It's very, very cold. But my favorite planet is Jupiter. Jupiter is the BIGGEST PLANET OF THEM ALL! That's why it's my favorite.

So I guess we can add astronomer to Biscuit's potential career list.

Shouldn't Mars be his fave planet because it's red? Hm ...

Well, if you want to get all technical about it ... Venus is not cold, either. :) I was just impressed with the parts he got right.
